History

Established in Australia, April 1980’s, Bakers started as a single landscaping supply truck business, owned and operated by our Founding Director, Edward (Ted) Baker.  Ted is still the current owner of Baker Group celebrating over 43 years in business and is still heavily involved in the business daily operations holding his Director positions.

Director - Edward (Ted) Baker

Ted started in 1980 sub-contracting with Walker Civil Engineering during this time he learnt how to successfully build the company how it is today. Ted expanded to include recycling, crushing screening, excavation and bulk haulage of excavation and quarry materials, he become a provider of bulk tipper transport to various industries within the Sydney Basin. Building a network of contacts and friendships that he still holds today. Ted has a thorough working knowledge of products and services through experience and he understands client’s special needs providing higher standards of customer service. He consistently pursues a policy of continuous improvement with the aim of the Baker Group for higher standards in the industry and workplace safety for workers, customers and staff.

 

 

General Manager - Fred Knox

Fred joined Bakers Group as General Manager in 2019, with his experience in both civil and the construction industry gives him a strong working knowledge of our client requirements. 

Fred began working in the civil contracting sector, specialising in city excavation and site remediation projects back in 1980 with Walker Civil. In 2002 he joined Reed Constructions Australia heading up the Civil Division’s completing challenging road infrastructure, water, and sewer treatment plants both locally and interstate. Then in 2011 he joined CIP Constructions working on various land development projects both in NSW and Queensland gaining valuable industrial and residential land experience. He has a reputation within the industry of working with clients to develop cost and time effective solutions for some of the most challenging projects in NSW and interstate.

Transparency is key, ensuring all concerned are always kept up to date.

Key to the success of our business is through knowledge of products and services combining quality staff to manage our client’s needs through experience, patience, and appreciation of their individual day-to-day requirements.

Baker Group has a current Enterprise Agreement in place. We have undergone regular updates in negotiation with our company Employers endeavouring to maintain code compliant and be able to offer best value for money to our clients.

Bakers recognises the skill and responsibility of each of our employees including our heavy vehicle drivers and in doing so understand the responsibilities and commitment that Baker Group have to their employees.

Our people are an integral part of our organisation hence great importance is placed upon their training. We currently have long term drivers who have been employed by Bakers back in the landscaping days over 15 years ago
